Cryptic Masonry was first introduced to Croatia in early 2009, when a small group of Brethren (Companions) obtained their cryptic degrees with the help of Brethren from Italy and Austria. The first Council was founded in Rijeka, on the very same day. In spring of 2009 more Brethren were made Cryptic Masons in Washington DC, under the aegis of the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons in Virginia. By summer of 2009 another two Councils were founded so that the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of Croatia could be established as the sovereign governing body of Cryptic Masonry in Croatia.
